Malpractice insurance, also known as Lawyers Professional Liability (LPL), is for attorneys and law firms who find themselves as defendants in cases involving the legal services they provided to clients. LPL coverage protects you and your firm from allegations arising out of the rendering or failure to render professional legal services. Claims range from allegations of conflicts of interest to failure to “calendar or follow up”, and abandonment of representation or failure to address client needs, among other issues. The American Bar Association (ABA) estimates attorneys will have at least three legal malpractice claims brought against them in the course of their careers.
